Design, quote and plan

We will discuss your LP Gas requirements in consultation with yourself, your architect, project manager, builder, kitchen designer, electrician, plumber or any other parties and quote you on the best possible solution that suits your needs while remaining safe and compliant at all times. Please note that we will NOT quote on any system without having physically visited the proposed site or having seen a FULL set of current and approved building plans. Furthermore, where a gas system requires Fire Department approval, our quotation is subject to changes required by the Fire Department. A 50% deposit is required on acceptance of a quote and final scheduling of jobs will only be done once this deposit shows in our bank account. The remaining 50% is due on completion of the work and CoC’s will only be released on receipt of this payment. NB. Please pay special attention to the terms and conditions laid out on the quotation and in the covering email or letter.

Installation and modification

Blue Bay Gas Installations is registered to undertake residential/domestic installations. Our work conforms to SANS 10087-1 and the OHS Act of 1993; the Pressure Equipment Regulations of 2009, Local Government Fire Regulations and all applicable amendments. All material used is approved by the SABS, SANS and the LPGSASA. A Certificate of Conformity (CoC) for the installation will be issued on completion of work. You or a nominated responsible adult (partner, tenant, etc.) must be present for final handover, which includes a safety briefing on the use of LPG, and to sign the CoC. While on site we will attempt to be as unobtrusive as possible, however as with all building projects, there will be a certain amount of noise, dust and dirt created. Power tools will also be in use. Please take this into account with regards to animals, babies, children, sick people and neighbours.

Maintenance and repairs

We are licensed to repair, replace and maintain all LPG pipe work and associated working parts. By law, your gas system must be inspected at least every five years. All hoses on outdoor installations must be replaced every five years after installation. You are welcome to contact us regarding repairs and maintenance to your gas system.

Removal and decommissioning of existing LPGas systems

Legislation requires that a registered gas installer decommission an existing LP Gas system. Should you wish to remove and decommission such a system, please contact us so that we can give you a quote to do this.

Gas compliance inspections

If you are selling a property that has a permanent LPG installation in place, a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) must be issued for the installation before transfer of the property can take place. On completion of an inspection, we will either issue a CoC stating that the installation is compliant with all current legislation, or a Non-Conforming Notice (NCN) stating that the installation is non-compliant and listing the areas of non-compliance. Should corrective work be required to make the installation compliant, we will quote to rectify what was found to be non-compliant as indicated above. Please arrange to be present during the inspection as these certificates need to be signed by the home-owner, tenant, manager or a legal representative (such as an estate agent or lawyer). Casual or domestic employees or minors may not sign these certificates. Our inspection rates vary depending on the area where the installation is located. Please contact us for enquiries regarding inspections and the associated tariffs.
